The Other Sex Part 1

Monday, 24 August 2015

Let's talk about m.e.n.  Yes, those humans.

Other than looks, there's little variation among them: there's the first date, first kiss, first love, first heartbreak, first pick-yourself-up-out-of-the-dirt-and-move-on.  Repeat.  How many girls have to get their hearts broken before one of us learns a way to break the cycle?

Obviously, the messiah of relationships has yet to grace us with her presence.  Enter the funny picture that will make you giggle despite the great tragedy before us.

But honestly, all jokes aside now.  Love sucks.  I had no idea before, but I can honestly agree with the millions of you out there who already assured me it sucks... it sucks.  Taylor Swift plays so much in my room these days that even my ghetto blaster is getting sick of it.  Every five seconds there's some new jab at some guy who left her and I'm sobbing in the bath like, yup, yup, Tay, you sing it, girl.  Because it's true.  It's not cheesy, it's just the truth.  Guys break hearts and girls cry.

Am I the only one who feels that crying makes me look weak?  I feel vulnerable and guilty, like I'm the one who screwed up and now I'm having a pity party for myself.  But hell, he's probably out at some bar with some girls having a dandy old time.  So I look at my reflection in the mirror and say, Brit, you get the hell up and don't feel sorry for anything!

I'm supercharged with motivation to move forward for all of about ten minutes, until John Mayer plays in the car on the stereo and my makeup starts to run again.  Whoopee.  I stop the car, staring at my raccoon eyes in the rearview mirror.  I think, How will this ever get better?

Girl, you got this.  We're all in this together (sung High School Musical style)

(don't pretend like you don't know what I'm talking about)

      Britany xo

  2. Here are my words of wisdom coming from someone who has lived a lifetime of heart ache in her early years. Yes, it was always good to cry. I found I only cried for a weekend and after my pity party weekend my Mom would tell me he was not good enough for me. When I heard those words I became stronger. I would not listen to sad music. I put on dance music and that would make me stronger. Once I put that positive energy out in return the right man came into my life. And then I would realize what did I ever see in those other guys...yuck! The right one will come along and it will blow your mind. You will find they are your best friend. They will make you laugh more than cry. They will be there when you need them most. Hang in there. You are a beautiful, talented, sensitive, strong, adventurous woman and deserve the best. Don't settle! Love Heather xo
